Last night, the President of the United States directly quoted an incendiary Nixon-era call for violence on black bodies. The parallels between this moment and the Black Power movement of the 1960s and 70s are a stark reminder that this perpetual struggle is not new. However, we cannot leave black Americans to bear this struggle alone. In the late 1960’s ‘Yellow Peril supports Black Power’ became a rallying cry used by the Asian-American activist community to stand in solidarity and to show support for the Black Power movement. Today, Yellow Peril still supports Black Power.
